Report of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage

Here’s how my presentation to the Report of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage ended up – a small pithy quote. Happy that they got the essence of my presentation: “The Committee heard from witnesses who discussed the need to ensure that all content is treated equally by Canadian ISPs, many of which also act as broadcast distribution undertakings (BDUs), whose broadcast activities are regulated. Phillip Djwa, President of Agentic [Communications], told the Committee that he believes “it would be a mistake to allow the telecommunication providers in Canada to charge a levy and then use that to essentially eliminate net neutrality.” He suggested that ISPs could generate a fund to provide grants to content providers, as is done in broadcasting.” I was referring to creating a grant that would provide for small seed funding to content creators.
