Project info:
In 2010, the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games launched the first Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition – a digital art showcase and festival. CODE ran from February 4 to 21 and was the first festival of its kind at a major sporting event, showcasing the new digital media styles in art, music, and film. As part of CODE Agentic provided strategic direction and leadership to the production team (Fjord, the digital division of Cossette and Randomlink) in the development of an online collaborative conceptual art project.
Canada CODE, the first project of the first Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition, launched in April 2009 and Canadians immediately began sharing their words and images with the world.
The site was built on a backbone of Drupal 6, the most current release of the CMS at the time of development, with a highly conceptual and creative Flash interface. This interface infused the experience of exploring the content with the same creative and conceptual tone as the content itself.

Once the site was live additional features were added and modifications were made as befitted a living art project. Of the 14 site releases post launch two main releases included:

Remix – a custom slide show editing tool built in Flash that allowed users to place images and text on a timeline, vary their placement and duration, add transition effects and choose from over a dozen custom music soundtracks provided by the National Film Board of Canada
Torch Relay – timed to coincide with the national torch relay leading up to the Opening Ceremony, this data visualization allowed users to explore images submitted by Canadians in the communities along the Torch route. The dramatic interface design used varying sizes of beams of light to indicated the amount of participating on a given day during the Relay.
Between launch and the Opening Ceremonies, Canadians submitted more than 10,000 photo and text stories and almost 800 remixes to the site. The impact of this online art project was significant and extended beyond its own digital landscape.

Canada CODE was profiled on Mashable http://bit.ly/90Aqaq and featured on www.vancouver2010.com. It was featured at the 2009 Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa on Parliament Hill and in multiple live sites in Vancouver and Whistler during Games time.
