Beyond War started in an effort to address the dangers of nuclear weapons in the early 1980s. In more recent years, original Beyond War volunteers have come together to revitalize the organization in the wake of 9/11.
www.beyondwar.org was launched to emphasize the organization’s new focus: changing individual thinking and cultural norms so that violence is no longer an acceptable response to conflict. Beyond War strives to spread knowledge and adoption of basic principles and practices for living in peace with others at the personal, community, national and international levels.
The website provides a space for new ways to get involved. Members can become part of the online community, receive and create content, help develop new programs and join issue teams. Members can also get involved in local chapters and find out about local events.
Today's Beyond War is a growing international organization with a newfound urgency to build a networked grassroots organization to work towards the goal of ending war within a generation.
