Research with Respect

Canada’s only patient-centred Phase 1 Cancer Clinical Trial online resource.
Few people realize that every medication we take has been previously tested on human beings so that it could reach us safely. Understanding these tests, clinical trials, is no easy task. It’s a complex topic, of which little is known — often even among pharmacists and medical staff. We developed a strategy with Research with Respect to bring this crucial issue to the forefront in a digestible way. We developed a campaign video where founder Pat Maddocks and two leading medical experts frame the issue: Right now Health Canada does not make it mandatory for researchers to register their clinical trials. This means that not all test results become public knowledge, some research efforts may be duplicated, and worst of all, some people’s heroic efforts of volunteering their bodies for testing might happen in vein.

The site Researchwithrespect.ca is Canada’s only patient-centred Phase 1 Cancer Clinical Trial online resource. It’s a place where you can educate yourself about clinical trials, find resources for people who are considering volunteering, and learn how you can help make a difference in improving Canada’s clinical trial infrastructure.
