Happy New Year

2007 is already upon us and I'm feeling lucky and happy to start the year. We had a great Holiday season and even though it was too short, we're back at it!

Two great opportunities - one was the fact that I've been appointed to a Provincial Advisory Committee on Online Content and the second was having the opportunity to speak to the Premier's Technology Council yesterday about First Nations education and e-learning.

Certainly, e-learning, or distributed learning, has so much potential for First Nations students on reserve. I'm glad to have the opportunity to carry that message forward to those that can make a difference.

Recent Clients

Two recent RFP wins that mark the first under our banner as Agentic.
  • Granville Island (CMHC) has reselected us as their interactive agency for the next year. This is very exciting news and we are looking forward to this new relationship.
  • New Media BC has selected us to deliver a strategy and workshop series for 2010 opprtunities. We are really looking forward to this one and it will hopefully help New Media companies get a better sense of what is happening with the Olympics.

Our new name -- Agentic Communications

As you may know, I have been in business for years in the high-tech industry, and it only seems like a click of the mouse since I downloaded in 1993 the first web browser - Mosaic 0.93beta. Who knew it would unleash such an amazing decade of change. Since then, I have seen many, many versions of software - some that should have stayed beta - and worked on many exciting projects. One thing you can be sure of in this industry is that you must adapt to change. And changing we are!

Strategies for Tech Success for Small Business

"Ninety percent of small business owners," says Phillip Djwa, "are not technology innovators or early adopters, so using new technologies can provide a significant competitive advantage." He offers five strategies to ensure that the famous Wanamaker quote ("I know that half of my technology does not help my business. I just don't know which half it is.") does not apply.

  1. Give yourself the time to focus on the aspects of your business that really count by using technology to automate as many of your everyday tasks as possible.

Aboriginal People's Television Network

Working on several new clients, including a new web project for APTN! APTN is developing an Aboriginal youth project for the preservation of Aboriginal language and a way to connect with Elders! I'm looking forward to it.
