Came across this new definition of Agentic which I think is so fantastic: A "perspective that views people as self-organizing, proactive, self-reflecting and self-regulating, not just as reactive organisms shaped by environmental forces or driven by inner impulses."(Wikipedia)
It just means to me that people have human agency to make choices that can impact the world. We choose deliberately to work with social value organizations because we think that this is the way we can assist in helping the world.

Agentic Studio Christmas Closures

Seems incredible to think about this now, but indeed we are planning our holidays carefully! :-) The studio will close end of day Friday Dec 21st and reopen Monday the 7th of January. We will be periodically checking email and voicemail, but hopefully most issues will be able to wait!

Just pick up Business in Vancouver this week to learn that Agentic Communications is number 46 on the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies this year. The growth rate since 2002 has been 331%! Wow! I can honestly say it's been a great ride! The best part of this company has been the kind of work we've been doing with the kinds of value-centered clients we've always wanted to have. Just feeling grateful and pleased with the success.

Is it Fall yet? Starting to feel like it!

We're starting to book the studio for October which is great, but wild to think about the work we're going to be doing in the fall. Emily and I will be going to Toronto for a quick trip to see The Family Law Education for Women to help them develop their new website as well as to spend some time with CLEONet's Fiona MacCool to plan the V2.0 of their site. We've also just won a project with an organizing committee who cannot be named but is planning a large sports celebration here in Vancouver in 3 years.

We recently have been awarded two RFPs that we're excited to work on. The first was a web audit of Firstbusiness.ca as they work towards a refresh of this important resource for Aboriginal entrepreneurs.

Two recent RFP wins that mark the first under our banner as Agentic.

Granville Island (CMHC) has reselected us as their interactive agency for the next year. This is very exciting news and we are looking forward to this new relationship.
New Media BC has selected us to deliver a strategy and workshop series for 2010 opprtunities. We are really looking forward to this one and it will hopefully help New Media companies get a better sense of what is happening with the Olympics.

As you may know, I have been in business for years in the high-tech industry, and it only seems like a click of the mouse since I downloaded in 1993 the first web browser - Mosaic 0.93beta. Who knew it would unleash such an amazing decade of change. Since then, I have seen many, many versions of software - some that should have stayed beta - and worked on many exciting projects. One thing you can be sure of in this industry is that you must adapt to change. And changing we are!
